Men’s Fellowship Walking Group

The Friends of Hallow Church is a charity set up over 20 years ago with the object of involving the wider community in the upkeep of the church and the churchyard, reaching out to people other than those who are regular church goers. We offer a connection for visitors, residents, those with family connections, or those admiring this beautiful building from afar. This enables people to remain in touch with us, and support the church maintenance, through a small annual subscription of £10.00 for an individual,or £15.00 for a couple. A half yearly newsletter is provided to keep supporters informed and in touch.

More recently membership has increased and two initiatives are proving popular. A Men’s Fellowship Walking Group, meets on the second Monday of each month at 9.30am in the church car park. The walk is around 4 miles and at a pace to suit all abilities, returning back to the church by mid day. We sometimes manage a cafe stop or we take a flask. This is a  great way of meeting up, having a good chat, along with getting some exercise in our beautiful countryside.

A second group has been formed to support a small group, who have been stretched, to manage our large church yard. The Friends Gardening Group meets each Wednesday, weather permitting, at 11.00am in church. We begin with coffee and biscuits (and sometimes cake!) and then we undertake grass cutting, pruning, dead-heading the roses, strimming and sweeping. There are activities for all ages and we have good fun.  This year, 2019, we have entered The Best Kept Church Yard Competition in Worcestershire, organised by The Council for the Protection of Rural England. As I write we have just been chosen for the final round. Our winter project will include removing brambles and ivy from the main hedge, by the road

The charity has had a period of inactivity but we are looking at increasing the committee, membership and activities. A recent suggestion was a Friends of Hallow Church Golf Group.
