What COVID procedures are still in place in our churches?

LIMITS ON ATTENDANCE/ BUILDING CAPACITY:

  • All pews will be opened except for two or three that are separated by a one pew gap from others so that those who feel vulnerable can maintain their distance.
  • Doors will be kept open during to improve ventilation
  • We will continue to record attendance

REFRESHMENTS:

  • these may be served- provided that only one person is handling milk jugs/ teaspoons/ biscuits etc
  • refreshments may only be consumed outside
  • Visitors are welcome to use church mugs but if you are a regular worshipper please bring your own mug!

FACE COVERINGS AND HAND SANITISERS

  • We will encourage people to continue to wear face coverings during services and we will continue to provide hand sanitiser

SINGING

  • We will continue to sing the closing hymn for each service outside.
  • We ask you to sing quietly, seated and with your face coverings on

HOLY COMMUNION

  • At most services we will continue as we have been, offering the host only, and continuing to ask the presiding minister to receive the wine on behalf of the congregation
  • At the 8.30 BCPs and at the Midweek Eucharists (where congregations are small and the likelihood of 30/40 people all sharing the cup is low) the shared chalice will be offered- on the understanding that nobody should feel under pressure to receive the wine. This will mean there is at least a weekly opportunity for people to receive from the chalice if that is important to them.
  • There will be slightly different arrangements for the confirmation service on Sunday 25thJuly which have been agreed with the Bishop’s chaplain.
