Benefice magazine

Dear all,

It has come to my attention that somebody over 70 has been asked to distribute to the magazine. Unsurprisingly I have had a complaint about this.

In the light of that, since it appears that the structure for safe distribution we had tried to put in place is not working I have taken the decision that all magazine distribution must now be suspended immediately.

Please inform all those people within the distribution chain without delay.

As you know, I had very much hoped and expected that we would be able to distribute safely, and I have not taken this decision lightly.

I do not underestimate the huge amount of work taken both by Anne in producing the magazine and by Pat, Cynthia and many others in distributing it. I know this will be a cause of sadness to many of our contributors, distributors and recipients.

However I do not feel there is any alternative at present.

Thank you all so much for your hard work and your dedication to keeping people connected at this difficult time.

Please be assured of my continued prayers for you and yours.

The magazine for the parishes of Hallow and Grimley with Holt is produced ten times a year. There is no magazine in August and January. Publication date is always the 1st day of the calendar month.

The magazine is produced in A4 format in black and white. However, for special occasions in the benefice (for example. the 150th anniversary of the consecration of Hallow Church) sponsorship of the cover, printed in colour, is often forthcoming from generous individuals. Each month the magazine contains all the details of services in the benefice as well as articles written by the editor and several regular contributors. Many organisations – including the three churches – use it to advertise events and initiatives which are being planned. During term time both Grimley and Holt School, and Hallow School, submit a regular feature, sometimes written by the children.

Many local businesses advertise their services on a regular basis. Adverts are competitively priced – starting at £80 for a 1/8 page and the printed copies are delivered by a team of volunteers to around 600 households. At just 70p per copy, it is generally agreed that it represents value for money and keeps all subscribers informed about what’s taking place in the benefice and beyond. If you would like to have a copy delivered to your home or posted to you (if you live outside the benefice) then please contact the editor via email: westworcesterbeaconmagazine@gmail.com

Anyone can contribute an article but anything intended for inclusion must reach the editor by the 15th day of the month preceding publication. Articles can be submitted via email to: westworcesterbeaconmagazine@gmail.com or hand-delivered to the editor or a churchwarden.

The editor reserves the right to determine the publication of all submitted material and the right to edit as needed for the purposes of space etc. Contributors are asked to identify themselves at the time of submission. Their identity can be withheld from publication on request following consultation between the Editor and the PCC Chairman/his or her nominee. Opinions of individual writers are their own and not necessarily those of the editor or affiliated bodies or persons. The publication is not responsible for goods and services advertised.
