We are all familiar with the idea of pilgrimage- walking to a particular holy site- but walking is also very often how people met Jesus- as he walked along teaching them- on the road to Emmaus for example. Many of us at the moment are discovering how, in daily walks, we can slow right down, appreciate birdsong and wildflowers, sunshine and odd shaped clouds as we never do if we are driving. Taking things at walking pace we have time to see, smell, hear- and appreciate- the blessings of God which surround us.
Pray for walkers
Pray for all those people who find God’s glory through walking in open countryside, that they might hear God’s whisper as they go. Give thanks for people who maintain our footpaths. Pray for pilgrims who are seeking out new understandings on their journeys.
